M R B R A I N W A S H SOLO SHOW

Mr. Brainwash, often stylized as MBW, is the moniker of Paris born, Los Angeles based filmmaker and street artist Thierry Guetta. According to the Banksy-directed film Exit Through the Gift Shop, Guetta was a vintage fashion store owner  in down town LA and videographer who filmed street artists through the 2000s and evolved into an artist in his own right after an off-hand suggestion from Banksy.

There has been many opinions about Mr Brainwash, some say he is a copy cat, some say he is a sell out and others say he is intelligent enough to turn something into money and ride a wave of success. I guess through his art he is interpreting what has been done before, and to be honest many things in the creative world today are done like that, but you have to give the guy credit for doing it and putting on a good show. His art is there to make you think & question.

As I was outside the exhibition, I took a photo of a guy walking past the exhibition, he had a mask on, dressed in a black suit and was carrying a briefcase. It made me start to think if this was part of his evolving method of evoking peoples thoughts, getting them to notice that sometimes what you see directly in front of you is not always the true image.

My thoughts on the guy in the suit was that for a city like London, so security focused especially during the Olympics, a man walking in the middle of the city dressed like that, looking very suspicious is not stop and questioned. He could have been a terrorist, a bank robber or just some guy wanting to wear a mask to work that day.
